ankhsign asked for 5 fav fics. So, here I am launching into the rec business...
1.
TITLE: StardustAUTHOR:
KikkimaxURL: http://www.fanfic.otherplaces.net/stardust.htm
INFO: Crossover with NCIS, mild slash (Daniel/Tony UST) - a man with no memory holds the key to three bizarre deaths.
Ok, so I've never seen NCIS and slash isn't really my thing. Nevertheless, this is well written, and so cleverly uses Stargate backstory that I was drawn in. Kikkimax also writes as Roxie, and pretty much all of her stories are good, long reads.
2. TITLE: Innocent Imprint
AUTHOR: Travelling One
URL: http://homepage.mac.com/traveller1/travelling-one/imprint.htmINFO: Gen - recurrent memory lapses put Daniel in danger.
Travelling One is another reliable author who works a nice twist into her Daniel-centric stories. This one has long been my favourite of hers because I totally loved Daniel's bewildered denial. I confess though, I never could understand why SG-1 didn't triangulate his position from the mobile signal...
3. TITLE: Whipping Boy 101
AUTHOR: Lex
URL: http://www.omnifera.com/tablet/lex.htm
INFO: Gen - Daniel asks Jack for some serious lessons after the events of New Ground.
This one is quite silly, but has at its heart an interesting character study. I love re-reading it, even now that I know what happens.
4. TITLE: Ripples
AUTHOR: ELG
URL: http://www.bunnyfic.com/ELG/Ripples.htm
INFO: Gen, H/C (read the warnings, author rates it R) - After the events of Shades of Grey, Daniel is kidnapped by a rogue offshoot of the NID and the rest of SG-1 are caught up in a race to save him.
What do you mean you haven't read this one?! Well, it's hardly an original rec, but that doesn't diminish the fact that this is the fic which got me into fics, and will be forever beloved by me for that fact alone.
5. TITLE: Mine Eyes Have Seen
AUTHOR: Eve11
URL: http://community.livejournal.com/dark_gate/4744.html#cutid1
INFO: Gen - they were three days out of Restia when news filtered down the line that Zeph's company had caught themselves a Black Rat
There were a whole group of terrific fics which fell out of the Dark Gate challenge run earlier this year. This is one of them, and it took me a while to get my head around it. Still, despite the bleakness, it was well worth the effort - a clever fic from an author I always enjoy.
